Forced migration is one of the most serious problems today. People alienated from their own culture, language, and family connections experience the hostility of nationalistic intolerance and are seen as outcasts and second class citizens. Even within their native countries, trans-regional migrants and refugees fleeing from the horrors of war and post-conflict hardship often find prejudice and disdain in the local population rather than support.
Assistance to a democratic solution to migration problems in Russia is one of the most significant fields of interest for The New Eurasia Foundation (FNE). The issues of multicultural education, migrant youth development, and the social adaptation of children from migrant families – are an integral part of the Foundation’s programming aimed at promoting social stability and early prevention of ethnic conflicts. The competition “World without outcasts” gives us a chance to see the problem of migration and migrants through the eyes of children who consider themselves Russians, who were born here or recently immigrated to our country. Children, whose views are free from numerous prejudices of the world of adults. These views open new implications and new boundaries to us all.
We will be grateful if you wish to support our initiative (banner exchange, special bonuses to the winners, exhibitions, publications, etc).
